Weddings in St. Nicholas' Church
It is a joy to welcome couples who want to celebrate this major landmark in
their lives by getting married in the beautiful setting of St Nicholas'
Church.
Many couples feel that they want to make their marriage vows
before God and we would like to help you receive God's blessing on your
special day.
Eligibility for marriage at St. Nicholas
If you live in the parish of Cramlington (north of the A19) or
have connections in any way with St Nicholas Church you are invited
to apply to be married in the Church.
If one of you has been previously married, please see our
leaflet on Marriage where a previous
marriage has been dissolved. Once you have read the leaflet you may
want to contact one of the clergy to take things further.
Services of Blessing after Civil Marriage
These days some people prefer to go to the Registry Office for the
Registration of the Marriage and afterwards to go for a service of Blessing
in Church. This service is a full and joyful celebration of the wedding.
It can be on a small scale and quiet, or with organ and hymns. There are
prayers for the couple and their families, and all leave the church to
continue the celebrations.
Sometimes couples who were married in a Registry Office
previously decide, even years later, perhaps at a significant wedding anniversay, to come to seek God's Blessing in
Church.
If you are interested in a service of blessing after a civil
marriage please read this page.
Booking your wedding
For bookings, please come to the Parish Office at the
Parish Centre which is next to St. Nicholas church, Cramlington on a
